TOMMY GODWIN TEAM LAUNCHES “100 FOR 100” FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE

AMAZING.......the total raised was in excess of £30,000. Staggering. Thank you so much to all to participated, fundraised or helped. This will pay for (almost) three days at the Hospice.

Marie Curie West Midlands Hospice needs us to raise money more than ever this year.  And after making the difficult decision that the 2020 Tommy Godwin could not run safely as a mass participation, all is not lost!

We do fancy a bit of a challenge in the organising team.  We are determined by hook or by crook to reach our 2020 fundraising target of £10,000, which would add to the £90,000 already raised over the years.  This will get us over the £100k line to mark the anniversary of Tommy’s 100th birthday later this year.

And so the “100 for 100” challenge is born!

Follow this link https://youtu.be/DluYcIqaJy8 to see how, alongside Tommy’s family and friends, we have been preparing over the past few weeks for our own challenges based around the number 100.  If you’d like to support us and Marie Curie, we have a Just Giving page which has more details of our personal challenges, and would be so grateful for any financial support you feel you can give us.

Dr Sarah Wells explains just how important funding is to Marie Curie at the moment:-

In his role as Chair of the  West Midlands Development Board, John Kitchingham tells us about his involvement and puts out a challenge to individuals and businesses to help raise funds https://youtu.be/PwO439stzF0

Even better, we’re inviting you to join in a unique Tommy Godwin Challenge, by taking on your own fundraising activity based around the number 100 (or multiples thereof!), by the end of September 2020.  For example, cycle 100 miles or km in one go or over several rides, cycle 100 minutes on the road or on a static bike or cycle 100 circuits of 1 mile.  All of the Tommy Godwin routes are available here if you would like to use them.  Or, if you prefer, do 100 anythings – walking, swimming, baking – whatever you fancy.

Once you have decided on your challenge, set up a Just Giving page selecting the Marie Curie West Midlands Hospice as the charity and the Tommy Godwin Challenge as the event and send us the link so we can track your fundraising.  Or, if you prefer, you can simply use our Just Giving page to raise your money.

We will be posting photos of our training efforts and challenges over the coming weeks – we would love it if you would embrace this appeal alongside us, and post photos and updates of your own fundraising challenges on our Facebook and Twitter pages.  It would be fabulous to raise 100 for 100 together!

Thank you so much for your continued support
